Today marks another year since I was born, but so far, I haven’t received any well wishes. It’s a bit disappointing and has me thinking if maybe my looks have something to do with it. There’s this societal obsession with physical appearance, and it sometimes feels like those of us who don’t meet the typical standards get left out. This sense of being unseen is even more noticeable on days like birthdays, where we expect a bit more love and attention.
It’s important to always keep in mind that our value goes far beyond our physical appearances. Meaningful bonds are formed through acts of kindness, empathy, and sincerity. Though society often pressures us to measure our worth based on our looks, it’s essential to nurture connections that see us for who we are beneath the surface. While feeling overlooked can be disheartening, it serves as a gentle nudge to value those who genuinely care for us and to cultivate self-love, the ultimate gift we can give ourselves.
