In April, Katie Snyder took her dog Leia to stay with her dad for a while. Leia seems to be enjoying the company of Snyder’s parents and not having to deal with her two dog siblings. However, despite this, her behavior doesn’t reflect it. Snyder mentioned to The Dodo that Leia isn’t the typical affectionate dog as she is quite independent and relaxed.
According to her, Leia has a special way of showing love to everyone. For instance, she enjoys cuddling up with you while watching a movie or patiently waiting outside the bathroom until you finish.
Snyder noticed that Leia was happy, but she didn’t realize how attached her dog had become to her father until a situation put their bond to the test.
When Snyder’s parents celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary, her father faced additional cancer problems. COVID-19 prevented Snyder’s mother from accompanying her father to the hospital, leaving her alone at home. Upon her return, Snyder’s mother discovered Leia, the family dog, at the front entrance with her head lowered, waiting for her father to come home. To express the depth of Leia’s grief, Snyder’s mother snapped a photo and sent it to Snyder, who was moved to tears upon viewing it. The image revealed the genuine love and affection Leia held for Snyder’s father and her sorrowful longing for his return.
The following day brought a lot of excitement for Snyder and Leia as Snyder’s father finally returned home. Snyder noticed how much Leia’s dog was affected by her father’s absence, so he decided to make Leia’s living situation permanent.
According to Snyder, the loyalty of this dog is unparalleled. She goes on to say that the dog now sees her owner as her human. The owner’s mother says she has gotten used to having the dog kiss her son’s face like another female would.
